new territories adventure 1!

so i woke up at 7.15am this morning to go for Macs breakfast with jinli and cuiyi. and while they went off to watch p.s. i love you together, but sat separately (heh), i rotted in my room for a while before deciding i should be out there since there was sunshine. i flipped the guides and maps, finally found a place to go! tai wo / tai po market - trier mentioned this place before =)

i like the place! cos it's very local, the only "touristy" thing was the railway museum - even then, i only saw a couple of tourists, all the rest were locals. haha =) and stuff there are pretty cheap, i am talking about groceries mainly lah. haha =P oh, and i bought canvas shoes - the "laoya" kind, but only...9odd sing dollars?! haha =P and i conversed with the person in cantonese leh! WOOHOO! haha =P i scared there not used to speaking chinese. =)

fu shin street - it's a market - at tai wo.


the railway museum. this was the the actual train station that was built in 1913. i dunno when they stopped using this, but it was declared a monument in 1984.


this was where the station manager worked.


they used these rifle-like things to signal to the train drivers when to stop and when to proceed. if they are fully horizontal, it means stop. =)


the two rectangular box-like objects were used to show people the station names, very vintage leh! haha =P

i stopped by the shop with the red signboard - 阿婆豆腐花. they sell tao huay, i saw a long long queue and many people just standing at the side eating, so i had a bowl too. LOL =P


hawker centre, like ours! i felt so at home there! =)


and the green taxis that only ply the new territories! i get excited every time i see something new and different. haha =P

then i just happened to be at the shopping mall at tai po market when they had some kind of cny event. honest, this wasn't planned =P

dun ask me who the guy is, his name is王长兴 - i think he was mr hong kong or sth; but i know the girl in the middle. she's Mandy 曹敏莉, a tvb actress - not that big a star, but if you watched《胭脂水粉》and《乱世佳人》, you will know who she is. in the former, she's the youngest sister, and in the latter, she's a popular singer who was actually secretly working for the government when jap attacked china, and she died in the end. got an impression now? yup. =)



alrite, that's it for now...i got a jap quiz tmr, so sian =.= dun feel like going back to school after taking a 12-day break. sigh. till the next post then.
