i REALLY watched david beckham in action.

WOOHOO~! you know what, i can still feel the excitement in me when i think about the fact that i actually went to watch david beckham in action. yes, right here in hong kong. =) LA galaxy is here as part of a promo tour in asia, and they played against HK SCAA Invitation Team this afternoon. i was there pretty early, and i got a seat at almost pitch-side, just behind the corner flag i.e. can take decent photos. if only i had a better camera. and you know what's the big plus? the fact that the LA team's changing room was at the corner where i sat i.e. an even higher chance to take decent photos. HAHA =P

some of the galaxy players came onto the field to take a look at the pitch condition and environment. there were some fans who asked them for an autograph as they were walking back to the tunnel, but too bad i really dunno any of them! =X


the goalkeepers warming up....they were the first to come on to the pitch.

and of course, here comes the biggest star of the show!!! although i only have his backview, you can still tell it's him rite?! haha =P

i tell you, majority of the people were there to watch him. he's a brand name on his own. supporters who came wearing jerseys are wearing those that have BECKHAM printed on them - Galaxy's, England's or even Man U's.


the teams warming up about an hour before the game. i took this as i walked over to the other side of the field where the LA team was warming up so that i could take the following photos and videos! haha =P

finally, after waiting 2 hours, the match was about to kick-off!

becks is the one on the right!! he's very easy to spot on the field cos he's the only one wearing long-sleeved jersey. i wonder if that's on purpose. cos most people in the stands are only concerned about him anyway. so he wears a different jersey to stand out. haha =P

the first half ended with galaxy trailing by a goal. and here's becks at half time!! this was really the closest i could get already lah! -_-


the second half was much more exciting for people on my side of the stadium cos galaxy was attacking this side, and and and, there were many more corner kicks!! haha. beckham takes corners mah so it meant photo opportunity. haha =P

i think it's really all about beckham. haha. the crowd cheered every time he touched the ball, crossed or took a corner. too bad there was only one free kick within range, which he rammed into the wall -_- ehhhh but i was really thrilled thinking about the fact that i was there to watch him play in person! i mean, an England international, former captain some more...and those crosses! the curl and power on the ball he puts into the box! the way he runs! all exactly like what i see on tv! SO COOL! felt surreal! haha =P i cant imagine if the whole english team or some other more renowned team was here. haha.

anyway, the hk team scored late in the second half from the penalty spot to bring the score to 2-1, advantage HK team, with only about 5 mins to spare. but then there was an unexpected turn! some hk player handballed, and then penalty to galaxy! did becks convert....?



GOAL!!!! and so the match went into penalties. again, people on my side of the stadium were so excited cos the shootout was on my side!! =) and becks was the first to take...

of cos he scored lah. if he dint, it would be super sia-suay lah. haha =P

and a bonus, so this is ruud gullit, manager of galaxy now. he played at clubs like ac milan and chelsea and was part of the dutch team. and he was at newcastle (the club i support actually -_-) as manager for a while, a really short while! haha =P



and becks leaving the pitch after the prize ceremony. he gave his jersey to this little angmoh kid! that kid was sitting on his dad's shoulder and he put on the jersey immediately, and what the people around him did was so funny! haha. they were like touching the jersey and taking photos of it, all just because it's BECKHAM. haha =P

alright, i have finally reached the end after hours of waiting for the photos to be uploaded =X oh, the match ended 7-6 to the hong kong team by the way, cos the second penalty taker for galaxy thought he was playing rugby. lol =P
